Superbly done coming-of-age. It's got great fantasy and adventure elements and is a great read for middleschoolers, high schoolers, heck, even adults! It is a great escape from the day to day which is what I look for when choosing a book to take a mental vacation with. It is a unique, well-crafted, character driven story that grabs you via curiosity at the beginning and invests you in the characters and world within the first few pages. The world is rich and expansive while not being overwhelming.

Even if its your cup of tea waiting of the next book wont exactly drive you to distraction. Main character is more of a personality placeholder than a person and is surrounded by strong female supporting cast and evil men.
Hell when you get right down to it this is very similar to many if not most other fantasy coming of age in broad storkes if not in the details. But as they say the devil is in the detail and this novel handles then admirably. Read it i liked it your mileage may vary.

An exceptionally well written tale with the craftsmanship of great writers of the past, like Tolkien and Rowling No fantasy story lover should bypass this author. I couldn't put this book down. The author has a vivid imagination and I recommend this series for all ages to read. Loved it!!! You've found the series you need to read.
This is the best fantasy series I've read in many long years. You'll feel sad when it ends but the good news is there's another trilogy after the 5th book! No matter what age you are you'll get something out if it. If you don't believe me check the fan mail on the author's website.

I hardly ever write reviews, but this was too good not to throw a parade. Augum; I really liked him. He had it tough as an abused orphan slave boy, until he ended up in the care of Sir Tobias Westwood. Westwood taught Augum to read, hunt, etc. Augum has spent all of his life ridiculed and beat up on for being a gutter born orphan and it is beautiful to see that turn around for him as he finds true friendship.
Stone; the awesome elderly super powerful bad arse Mrs. I loved her. Go Grandma, Go, Go. I quite liked the girls and think that they balanced Augum out nicely. Leera got to kick some butt in the book alongside Augum and I hope that in the future books they get their chance to shine independently. Prince Sydo; I have to mention him as, Sydo is nasty spoiled foul mouthed brat and I hated him. I think you are meant to hate him, but I found him really disrupting my enjoyment of the story at times.
I hope he wakes up to himself in the next book. The story follows year-old Augum. I found the story a bit hard to get into at first and some of the chapters lagging early on and towards the middle as we are getting crammed with background information. There are some cool plot twist along the way and we get a new style of magic with the Arcane discipline. Once I got into the vibe of the book and stomached all the world building, I really started to enjoy the story, but I cannot really say too much about the story without giving all the twists away.
The end of the book is an exciting frantic flurry of action, with a brilliant ending, bring on the next instalment Mr Bronny. The group arcane the arinthian line free download epub pdf ebook friends makes another old premise, that of All for one, one for all and reworks it in a fresh new approach.
