This is the exact same oroblem i am having. I have 3 firesticks all of them second generation and I have 4 fire TVs and all of them second generation. I am unable to get the Amazon app store on any of tbem. And most apps that I try to download it says amazon fire stick wont download apps not amazon fire stick wont download apps at this time.
Only thing I can think of is my tv amazon fire stick wont download apps not a smart tv it is just an HD tv and using my firesticks or fire tv's is what makes it a smart tv. Are you not able to download any apps, not even apps from the store? If you are having trouble downloading any apps outside the store, using Downloader for example, you will need to go into settings an enable third party apps.
